Do you remember when you were a kid and the year seemed so long? It seemed like Christmas would never come, that the school year dragged on and on, and that your birthday would never get here.
I remember always saying "I can't wait until (insert special day here)!" My Mom's response was the same every time "Don't wish your life away. When you get older the years just fly by." I secretly thought she was crazy, how could time just fly by. Now that I am older I have trouble remembering what year it is, how old I am, how many years we have been married, how old our children are. This isn't because I have Alzheimer's, but because time is passing so quickly that it is hard to keep up.
Now my kids are in that stage where they are saying "I can't wait until (insert special day here)!" I just smile and think of my Mom and I know how she felt every time I said that, because for her, and now for me, that special day will be here in a blink of an eye.
